Donations & Sponsorships
If you would like to make a one-off donation towards a funded game you can do so by selecting "donations" through the Escape Rooms Newport website here.
If you would like to get involved with the project either as a sponsor, a charity or community organisation or simply as a member of the community, wanting to volunteer any time, skills, expertise or input, we would love to hear from you. You can get in touch with our team via the contact page or email us directly by tapping here.
All donations made to Escapism Unlocked go directly to funding community games. These games are purchased from The Escape Rooms Newport in the form of booking "vouchers" which are then allocated to deserving recipients. As far as possible, we aim for the recipients of funded games to enjoy the same booking and gaming experience as anyone else.
The full terms and conditions for our Funded Games are still in development and will be published here, when finalised. The key aspects we wish to ensure for the scheme are as follows:
Funded Games:
-
Will be allocated to deserving members of the community who would otherwise face barriers that would stop them from partaking. Barriers may not be purely financial, but may also be due to life circumstances, physical or mental health difficulties, caring responsibilities, time constraints or other factors which mean that a recipient simply could not dedicate the time, funds or planning to make the visit themselves but would sincerely benefit from the escapism and stress-relief activities like this provide.
-
Will be allocated in as fair and transparent a way possible.
-
Will give recipients the same experience at The Escape Rooms as any other group of players would enjoy.
-
Allocations will be made bearing in mind a number of factors in order to create a "common sense" approach as to who we can help first. Beyond just the amount of time a recipient has been on the list, we will also take into consideration any time sensitivities, urgency of need, health constraints, changing life circumstances or any other factors which might mean one recipient might be a better candidate to visit sooner than another. As an example, a foster family, with a newly housed young person, may benefit from a very short-notice funded game as a bonding activity, whereas someone recovering from life-altering surgery, may need some recuperation time before they are able to attend so may be allocated a booking voucher for use further in the future.
-
Will be supported. All recipients will have a contact on the CiC team who can assist them in making or amending their booking and supporting them with any additional needs or accommodations that would best allow them to get the most out of their visit. The Escape Rooms Newport team will also do their utmost to ensure the players have the best possible time with us, however the team working on the day, will not necessarily be aware that the players have received their game via Escapism Unlocked.
Public Nominations:
While we anticipate working in partnership with charitable and community organisations to allocate games to deserving recipients, we would like nominations to be open to everyone. Therefore we will be creating a process whereby members of the public can nominate deserving people who they think would really benefit from the stress relief, escapism and social bonding that an Escape Room experience can provide. Keep an eye out on our social media, or check back here regularly to see when nominations are open.
Accommodations:
Unlike ordinary escape room bookings, we acknowledge that certain additional accommodations may need to be granted for our Funded Game recipients to be able to relax and enjoy themselves (and dedicate their time to planning their visit). Therefore we will have a few minor adjustments to the usual Terms & Conditions for players booking via Escapism Unlocked. Games booked via vouchers allocated by the Escapism Unlocked team will be:
-
Reschedulable at short notice. Usually, in the event of a late-notice cancellation/reschedule request, a booking would be forfeit due to the staffing and running costs for live events. However, we understand that our recipients may have difficult life circumstances which mean that their plans have to change at short notice. We will appreciate as much notice as possible but will allow up to three rescheduled visits before a game booking is cancelled.
-
Completely Confidential. While our funded game recipients will be more than welcome to share their experiences at The Escape Rooms, by sharing game photos or giving us a shout-out on our social media (just as all our players are encouraged to), there will never be any obligation to partake in publicity or PR as a part of enjoying a funded game. We understand that our recipients may prefer or even need to remain anonymous, for any number of reasons and will never ask them to publicise their experience with us and will avoid sharing any identifying information when discussing our work.
Feedback:
We will welcome input from all our corporate sponsors, charity partners and the public on how best to develop and improve our processes to ensure transparency, efficiency & fairness in our processes as well as the dignity & wellbeing of our recipients. Please feel free to reach out to us here or via our social media outlets with any thoughts you would like to share.
